Did you know?

...that almost all applications supplied by SmartStuf Data Systems are Open Source and are therefore FREE of the restrictions imposed upon you by proprietor-Licensed software vendors (e.g. Microsoft, Adobe, etc)

But, ...what does FREE mean?

There is a well known explanation used across the Open Source community which states, ...
Open Source software is free as in "FREEdom of Speech", rather than "FREE Beer!"

What this means in effect is that the Open Source software we supply is FREE to be used in any way that you (the user) wishes.
It means that you can back-it-up, make copies, give a copy to your friends or business colleagues (who may in turn give it to their associates), and even (if you really feel so inclined) modify it all the way down to the source code level -tweaking it to fit your business needs even better; ...and all without having to pay for additional licences, or buying extra copies, or engaging Copyright lawyers to defend your actions when the proprietary software 'owners' take you to court.

In short, it means that (provided you never tamper with the original Copyright notices, etc; or try to pass the software off as your own proprietary property) you may pretty much do with the software as you wish, using it whenever and wherever you want and on as many computers as you need.
Now, isn't that refreshing?

Most Open Source software is distributed under the terms of the 'General Public License' (GPL), which guarantees you Rights as a user that the High Street amateur market and proprietary software simply doesn't include.

Will YOU be one of them?

A recent House of Commons Report (High Street Britain 2015) states that 30,000 independent High Street retailers will disappear over the next 6 years due to a lack of passing trade (footfall customers).

As if you needed any more; ... that is both a depressing, and shocking, prediction to all operators of High Street independent shops.

As if ...the Credit Crunch;
... the general lack of confidence in, and from, the Banks;
... the ever increasing cost of employment and government bureaucracy;
... and the forever steepening spiral of demands for rent and rates across the UK marketplace weren't enough to send you into deep despair. The prediction that future shoppers will abandon the High Street, and your expensively enticing window displays, should convince you that now is not the time to entrench your business.
